Introduction to Hide & Seek in OSRS

Most if not all of us knows hide and seek from childhood. Maybe not all have discovered how much fun it is still to this day. The basic rules from our childhoods still apply but to get the most fun out if it, we must be clear on exactly what the rules are. Besides, there are some extra complexity doing it in OSRS.

Basic Hide & Seek Rules

The rules are simple: Typically, one player takes on the role of the seeker, while the other players become hiders. The seeker must locate all hiders within a specified area and time frame. Below are some common rules to follow:

  • Designate Boundaries: Hiders must stay within specified boundaries. Dungeons are not allowed.

  • No teleportation: You are not allowed to use any kinds of teleportation.

  • Time Limit: A time limit is set beforehand of each session and can vary depending on location.

  • Found: When the seeker finds someone they shall send a trade request as confirmation.

  • No Moving: Once hidden, hiders should remain in their chosen spot until found.

  • Communication: Clues can be given when requested by event leader(s). No clues shall be given over private chats.

  • Who is the seeker?: The first to be found becomes the seeker next round. Exception is if the same person if found twice in 2 rounds (Found first, played as seeker, then found first again next round). In that case the 2nd found shall be the next seeker.

  • Hiding & Seeking:

    • When the hiders hide, the seeker must wait in another world.

    • When the search begins the seeker logs in at a predetermined location.

  • PvP is forbidden: More specifically attacking another participant of the play is strictly forbidden.

  • Minimap must be hidden!: Please see the articles on how to hide the minimap. Cheating destroys the fun both for you and others. In the spirit of the game, player indicators must also be disabled.

Locations:

  • Falador

  • Varrock

  • At last the Wilderness! Bank your stuff!!
Here one or a limited few will hide while everyone compete to find the hiders first! When we hide in the wilderness, be aware of surprises!

Tips for Success

To excel in hide and seek within OSRS, consider the following tips:

  • Know the Map: Familiarize yourself with the chosen area beforehand. Knowing potential hiding spots can give you an edge, whether you're seeking or hiding.

  • Blend In: Choose hiding spots that naturally blend with the environment. Avoid obvious locations that seekers can easily check.
